Pyrotechnics and fire effects

What would a fire festival be without fire? Arclight, Scandinavia’s largest pyrotechnics company, is putting on an unforgettable fire show that will stay with you for a long time. The entire evening will include fire cannons, fireworks, pyrotechnics and other fire effects on the stage.

Fire-jumping

Jumping over small fires is the all-important part of the Festival of Fire celebrations. It is a popular old tradition that is about leaving the aches and fatigue of the old year behind and striding into the New Year with new vigour thanks to the power of the fire. When you jump over the fire, you’re supposed to shout: “My yellow is yours! Your red is mine!” Yellow symbolises fatigue and illness whereas red stands for strength, energy and love.

Nouruz marquee

No Persian New Year would be complete without a Sofreh Haft Sin table! Just like every Persian family home, the Nouruz marquee will have a gorgeous traditionally-laid table for the New Year. Tradition dictates that the table must be laid with things to symbolise all the blessings a person wishes for during the coming year. There must be at least seven things that start with the Persian letter sin, such as grass, dried fruits, hyacinth or mint, but other things as well, such as mirror, rose water or painted eggs. Come in and take a selfie of yourself and the Haft Sin!

Children’s marquee

The children’s marquee is always a hive of activity! Drop by and see us – we have a whole host of different activities to suit even the tiniest children. In the children’s marquee, you can have your face painted, learn to work with clay, listen to Haji Pirouz’s stories and much, much more. Maybe you’d like to become a tiger? A coltsfoot? Or just do your own thing at your own pace? All children are welcome!

Food marquee

Kungsträdgården will be full of different marquees, many of which will be offering different foods. There will be a wide range of different Iranian dishes to be had, where the main course is the hot Persian soup known as Ash Reshte. No fire festival is worthy of the name without the inclusion of this traditional dish. The noodles in the soup symbolise happiness and success in life.
There will also be several Foodtrucks available to serve you delicious food.

Seniors’ marquee

No Persian New Year would be complete without a Sofreh Haft Sin table! Just like every Persian family home, the Nouruz marquee will have a gorgeous traditionally-laid table for the New Year. Tradition dictates that the table must be laid with things to symbolise all the blessings a person wishes for during the coming year. There must be at least seven things that start with the Persian letter sin, such as grass, dried fruits, hyacinth or mint, but other things as well, such as mirror, rose water or painted eggs. Come in and take a selfie of yourself and the Haft Sin!Are you a senior wanting to come along to celebrate the arrival of the sun and the spring? There will be a special seniors’ marquee at the Festival of Fire for the over-65s. It will have plenty of seating and will be well-heated so that nobody has to feel cold. As seating will be limited, however, we would ask everyone to respect the age restriction.
