Rana Mansour is a singer-songwriter and pianist in the same mould as Norah Jones, Sade and Alicia Keys. Rana is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and was a finalist in the VH1 “Song of the Year” competition. Her music covers a spectrum that extends from pop at one end to soul, R’n’B and contemporary music at the other. Sometimes you can also hear subtle references to her Persian background, which she aspires to blend with everything western and global. Musicians: Afshin Sotudeh, guitar, Mazdak Khosrav, bass and Isac Kronholm on drums.

TWAB ARASH

Tawab Arash (born 1976) is a singer from Afghanistan. He is the younger brother of the famous Afghan film actor Nemat Arash. Tawab started to sing and learn keyboard with the encouragement and guidance of his brothers, and in due course with an Indian teacher. In 1996 he moved to Sweden and his first two concerts took place in Stockholm with Mirwais Hamra. From that on he began to perform professionally. Tawab is an ethnic Persian of Herat.

Ajam are a London-based band that was formed in 2010. They are driven by a passion for sharing the epic and soulful power of Iranian music with a new generation. The band’s repertoire consists of original numbers that are placed in a post-modern soundscape – traditional folk instruments mixed with urban rock beats and baselines. Ajam’s style was inspired by various elements of Iranian folk music, street and market entertainment, music connected with traditional sports and events, religious passion plays and ritual performances. Everything is presented in an exciting, dynamic show involving elements of dance and movement.
